Lake Spirit Flute by Werner John

The Lake Spirit is an unusual Native flute. Perfected by Werner John over 12 years, this is an eight-hole wide bore flute which plays very well in tune, including most chromatic notes, over the span of an octave and a sixth. Its tone is rich, deep and clear. The extra hole for each hand gives performers and composers extended possibilities in terms of both range and modulation. The Lake Spirit plays in "f" minor pentatonic with standard Native flute fingerings, and also in "a" minor pentatonic with an alternate fingering pattern (see Lake Spirit fingering chart). The flute comes with a hard case and a sheet of improvisation hints.
